Reminiscing

Mom and I always enjoyed visiting Warren and Evy in Goderich at one of their residences for a couple of weeks in the summer from the late 60's to the early 70's. Evy always kept their house neat and clean and made great meals and snacks. Warren was always entertaining.                                                                        Evy was quite involved with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Legion and enjoyed  relaxing with friends and a cold beer. Warren was an avid bowler with lots of trophies to show off before his injury at the salt mine. He was also involved with announcing at softball games, assistant coaching various hockey and soccer teams[ with lots of pictures] and helped The Salvation Army.                                                                                                There were a number of professional athletes living in and around Goderich at that time. I recall sitting in their sunporch and Warren pointing out  Paul Henderson walking by. That was just after his famous winning goal between Canada and Russia.  That house was across the street from the Harness Race Track and sports fields.                                                                                                                                                               Once Warren and Evy were in Nova Scotia from the mid 70's through the 80's we would visit them at one of their many residences in Bridgewater, Beech Hill, Mill Cove, Lakeside, or somewhere in Halifax. Warren kept them busy packing and unpacking. They were always there to greet us with a smile.                                        They attended our wedding on August 2, 1980 and I had at least one great dance with Evy. Every once in a while she would remind me of that and what a great time they had .                                                                  They would also visit us over the years in Blue Rocks, Northwest or Garden Lots.                                                                                                                                                                      Later on mom would enjoy visiting Evy at her apartment in Bancroft for around 6 weeks between September and October for a few years after she retired in 1990. She also enjoyed meeting and visiting some of Evys' friends and relatives.                                                                                                                                                           Evy would call mom a lot when she was no longer able to travel on her own. Then I would call Evy once in a while to see how she was doing. Mom would say hello but could not hear Evy.                                              We will always remember the times we had together and will miss them very much.
