One of my favorite memories came to me just the other day.  When Jan & Terry first moved to Cardiff, Mom, Sandra and I used to go up to visit for a few days.  Living in a small town, there was not the variety in the grocery stores that Janice was used to.  We asked if she wanted us to bring anything, and she said, "yes, a chocolate fudge cake".  "No problem" we said and purchased a chocolate fudge cake.

It was one of the hotest days of the summer and I drove a little Chevette car, WITHOUT air conditioning.  It was over three hours to get there from Toronto and by the time we arrived, the icing had melted and the top of the cake had slid off and was crushed onto the side of the cake container.  Boy, did it look nasty.

When we finally arrived, I handed her the cake, which looked like nothing you had ever seen before and told her, "Well, I'm not eating this" and she laughed and immediately grabbed a fork..."Well, I am" she said....and we all had cake !

Every time I see chocolate fudge cake, I think of this and it makes me smile.
