queen of the fiddle

My name is Joe Saunders. I  was Karl coulas's lead guitar player for the last 10 years and singer. About 4 years ago I went to the Barn in Maynooth to play with Karl and his wife Gwen for a dance. When I got my equipment set up I asked Karl where was our fiddle player and he said "they'll be here in a mnute'.   Suddenly this little voice said" where do you want me" .I turned around and there was Pauline....all 4'5" of her with her fiddle case in hand.It was a night I will never forget...Pauline played better than most of the fiddle players I had ever played with that night and continued to do so over the next 4 years.....I was in awe of her ...she was so little and played so well with a style all her own....even holding her fiddle bow with her little finger tucked in between the bow hair and the stick....all balanced in her right hand!!....Didn't matter wether it was a waltz or a hoedown ,Pauline was as smooth as silk... her personality was always smiling and laughing on stage..I was so proud of her and her ability as a fiddler and a fellow band member. When my wife Heather and I went to see her in the hospital in peterborough, we talked for a while and I could see she was so tired from her brokrn pelvis and not eating , her pain was more than she could bear.As I kised her forehead and said my goodbyes to her ,I said "I still love you."..In her usual cute way she said "well I hope so".I will never for get Pauline....I can still see her on youtube  fiddling at one of our nights at the barn..Pauline, you will always be my Queen of the Fiddle..God bless  and keep you safe in his arms....joe
